The Chelsea Area Historical Society is working to create a written history of the Chelsea, Oklahoma area, made up of stories shared by past and present residents, business owners, and alumni. These collected memories will be published in a book that will be sold as a fundraiser to help preserve completed projects and support future efforts, including the ongoing restoration of the original Bank of Chelsea building. We hope to include a wide range of stories, such as:
Family histories, including where families lived, worked, and attended school
Local businesses, with information about owners, locations, and years of operation
Schools, including names and locations, teachers who are remembered, and notable events
Government and public service, including local government, law enforcement, and fire department history
We invite you to consider contributing your memories to this collection of Chelsea’s history. You are welcome to submit as many stories and photographs as you would like. Together, these stories will help preserve the rich heritage of our community for future generations.
